Chocolate Chip Cookies

1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
¾ cup butter or margarine, softened
½ cup sugar
¼ cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (6 ounce) package semi-sweet chocolate pieces
1 cup finely chopped pecans
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease cookie sheets.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together both sugars, egg and vanilla with an electric mixer until fluffy. Stir in the chocolate and nuts if using.
- Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls, 1 inch apart, onto cookie sheets.
- Bake in a preheated oven for 8 minutes or until cookies are golden brown. Let rest 1 minute and remove from cookie sheets to cool on wire racks. When cool store in an air tight container.
