Ingredients
6 slices bacon
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 (15 ounce) can baby butter beans, drained and rinsed
1 (15 ounce) can red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 (15 ounce) can pork and beans in tomato sauce
1/3 cup ketchup
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoon Worchestershire sauce
6 to 8 slices Americean cheese, 4 ounces
Directions
- In a large skillet, cook bacon over medium heat until crisp. Remove to plate lined with paper towels to cool. Reserve 2 tablespoons of drippings discarding the remainder. Add the onion to the skillet and cook over medium heat for 5 minutes until tender.
- In a 2 quart casserole, combine all the beans, brown sugar, ketchup and Worchestershire sauce. Stir in the onion and crumble the bacon. Mix well.
- Bake covered in a 350 degree oven for 45 minutes or until bubbly around the edges. Remove from oven, uncover and top with cheese. Bake uncovered for 5 minutes or until cheese is melted. Remove from the oven and stir slightly leaving some cheese on top.
